1. Prospect Mountain Hiking Trail
The Prospect Mountain Hiking Trail is one of the most easily accessible hikes from Surfside on the Lake. Access the trail right in the Lake George Village off of Smith Street and ascend 1,600 feet up the mountain. At the top, you will be rewarded with panoramic views of Lake George, Vermont, and the High Peaks.
2. Berry Pond Preserve
Access Berry Pond Preserve from the Lake George Recreation Center and explore miles of trails. There are two trails here: an orange trail that takes you past Berry Pond and a Blue Trail that ascends the mountain. You can hike them separately or combine them for a longer loop. Berry Pond is a great hiking area for wildlife lovers!
3. Cat and Thomas Mountains
Cat and Thomas Mountains are home to three incredible Adirondack hiking trails in Bolton Landing. The blue trail is 1.4 miles long and takes you to the summit of Thomas Mountain, offering panoramic views of Lake George. This trail connects to the Cat Mountain summit trail, where you can enjoy more incredible views of Lake George and the Adirondacks.
4. Black Mountain Range

5. Shelving Rock
Shelving Rock offers two fantastic hiking trails on the east side of the lake. The Shelving Rock Falls hike is great for families, with a wide, level trail that leads to the falls. Arrive at the 50-foot falls and relax. You can continue your hike towards Log Bay on Lake George if you want a nice place to swim afterward. There is also a summit hike that takes you up the mountain.
